North Star’s iconic cowboy boots — known as “The Giant Justins” — are a larger-than-life sculpture created by Texas artist Bob “Daddy-O” Wade. Originally commissioned in 1979 for the Washington Project for the Arts as the “World’s Largest Pair of Cowboy Boots,” the 40-foot-tall installation later found its permanent home at North Star Mall. Today, they stand as a beloved city landmark and a must-see photo spot.
Each boot measures approximately 9 feet wide, 33.4 feet long, and 35.3 feet high, weighing around 5,000 pounds. Installed in January 1980 using three trailers and a telescoping crane over three days, the boots earned official recognition from Guinness World Records in 2014 as the largest cowboy boots in the world.
